Mr. and Mrs. David Jordan-Knox of Jordans Interiors, located in Vancouver, BC, recently returned from an exclusive trip to England as winners of the 2008 Althorp Living History Dealer Event organized by fine furniture maker Theodore Alexander.  The promotion was held to celebrate the 500-year anniversary of Althorp, the historic English estate of the aristocratic Spencer family, ancestral seat of Charles, 9th Earl Spencer, and the childhood home of the late Diana, Princess of Wales.  Althorp is the inspiration for their licensed collection of reproduction pieces bearing the Althorp name, Althorp Living History.

The international contest included a variety of sales and display related criteria, which was established for participating Althorp Living History collection dealers.   Charles, 9th Earl Spencer announced the prize to Jordans Interiors at an invitation-only champagne reception held at the Althorp Living History showroom during the April 2009 High Point Market.

Jordans’ co-owner David Jordan-Knox and his wife Allison won the grand prize of an exclusive, all-expense paid trip to England including two nights at Fawlsley Hall (an archetypal country house/hotel), a personal guided tour of the Althorp Estate which also included a traditional English lunch served by Earl Spencer’s personal chef, and two nights in a London boutique hotel.

David Jordan-Knox stated, “As we celebrate our 80th year of business at Jordans, this trip was an extra special treat for us.  It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to wander through this beautiful historical home, see the actual furnishings in their original settings, and recognize pieces we have sold in the past.  Many people in western Canada have a great appreciation and respect for English period and traditional furnishings, and the pieces in the Althorp Living History collection have great relevance and meaning.”   He added, “I’d like to express our sincere appreciation to all of those at Theodore Alexander responsible for this wonderfully memorable trip to England and the Althorp Estate.”

Harvey Dondero, Theodore Alexander’s CEO noted, “Jordans has always had an excellent display of the Althorp Living History Collection, and several of their stores carry the collection.  Jordans Victoria store hosted a hugely successful Earl Spencer event in their showroom in 2006. It was our pleasure to recognize their commitment to the Althorp Living History collection and have David and Allison personally see Althorp and the original pieces that were reproduced for the collection.”

The Althorp Living History collection encompasses over 450 pieces and is available in more than 150 stores and design centers around the world.
