April 16, 2009, Seattle, WAThe Art Club is set to debut a series of ten original, signed canvases featuring their exclusive artist, Eve.  Making her U.S. debut through a special arrangement with The Art Club, Canadian artist Eve will be on-hand during the upcoming High Point Market to sign a limited number of complimentary posters in the company’s showroom located in IHFC D423 on April 26-27 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The first of the new contemporary abstract introductions is a substantial canvas (30”x40”) entitled “Point of View”, while the series “Edge of Reason” consists of four smaller-sized canvases (20”x20”).  Each canvas evokes an instant visceral response from the viewer—the bold strokes are powerful and demanding.  All are done in a strong black and white composition, with a high gloss detail added to only the black brushstrokes, offering the viewer a unique contrast in color and intensity.  The entire grouping is composed of gallery-wrapped stretched canvas, and no framing is required.  Approximate retail price is $415 for the large canvas, and $290 each for the series.  The rest of the series includes abstracts infused with color, some with a misty, dream-like quality, while others display wide streaks of chic colorblocks.

Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, Eve began her education in creative arts and ultimately graduated as an interior designer.  Feeling restricted by the technical aspect of linear design, she returned to her creative roots where she was able to paint without limitations.  She integrated her knowledge of form and space with vivid color and texture, allowing the viewer to capture her unconventional perspective.  Her heavy use of gel medium serves as a foundation for each painting, on which she then combines rich colors with bold patterns to complete the effect.

Julia Davis, Design and Marketing Manager for The Art Club, says, “After launching The Art Club last year, we were very serious about having the right look to fill our targeted niche in the marketplace.  One look at Eve’s work, and we knew she would be a perfect fit—her paintings are fresh, modern, and unique, and will certainly attract clientele in the U.S. who love contemporary art.”
