Neoclassical Influences Offer a New Take on Traditional for Today’s Consumers
October 13, 2012, Bassett, VA—America’s Foremost Home and Lifestyle Brand is heading to Market with a major new collection of upholstery and casegoods that draws on an array of Neoclassical styles for a fresh take on traditional design that can only be described as c’est magnifique!
Produced under license by Bassett Furniture Company, Modern Heritage combines Napoleonic, Empire and Directoire styles for accessible furnishings with French flair. Casegoods for bedroom, dining and living room are crafted of cherry with cerise and noir black finishes, while signature wood pieces throughout the collection—designed to mix, match and mingle—are given a luxurious look with accents of silver leaf, bronze, penny and smoked mirror. Upholstery fabrics too subtly shimmer with fashionable metallics this season. Of special note are a bronzed leaf aperitif accent table, the copper penny drum table, and aged, dark silver boudoir chest. Napoleonic-inspired star motif metal hardware in noir black with rubbed penny accents adds character to an étagère, and metal fretwork in antique penny adds geometric interest to dining and occasional pieces.
Designed for consumers who gravitate toward traditional styles, Modern Heritage is scaled for modern suburban living, which translates into generous rooms with plenty of wall space and traditional East Coast architecture. Witness, for example, the undulating convex/concave fronts of Josephine’s bunching china vitrine in the dining room, and the Murat tall chest, panel-front dresser and writing desk for the bedroom.
